I asked this question so many customers. Why not heat up my hot tub? I talked to people through this process over the phone and have a list with information on how to test the spa heater itself. I do not usually recommend an end user tries to fix their spa. Working with electricity can be dangerous and the work can be fatal with electricity and water. It 's always advisable to contact a qualified technician to solve a problem. This means that many people are better able to troubleshoot their thermal heating and this guide is to help them.
Spa & Hot Tub Heater Troubleshooting Guide
An easy to follow heating Spa & Hot Tub Guide to troubleshooting. Resolution of a heater spa may be a simple process, if you have the right tools.
Note: This troubleshooting guide is intended for qualified spa services. It is recommended not to set them for the owner thermal spa.
ToolsYou must have:
A tester to test voltage, and a clamp on amp meter, amp draw for the item to be checked. You can not exactly a spa heater problem without them.
Multi-Meter: Allows you to test for voltage at the terminals of the heater.
Amp Meter: Used to search for amplifier design the review by the resistance.
You also need a variety of hand tools. Screwdriver, pliers, wrenches, etc.
Note: Spa must be filled with water and normalOperational state to perform these tests
To test the resistance, you should: check the voltage of the heater
1 Turn off the spa. (This means turning off the power source circuit breaker or disconnect Spa).
2 Open the section of the device and locate the heater.
3 Open exhibit spa heater to heater terminals.
4 Make sure that all cables and connections are far from the terminals of heating.
5 Open spa filter housing and remove the filter.Replace the filter cover and safety for the exercise.
6 Make sure the heating around the terminal to make sure you have access to contacts with the multimeter probes, without the danger of contact with other contacts.
7 Remember, if you re-power the well-being, we will work with 240 volts. Electricity and water do not mix.
8 Make sure the water near the terminal, where you are working. Also make sure that you are kneeling or standing in water during the testthe terminal voltage of the heater.
9 Re-supply voltage of welfare and, in turn, will cause the heater thermostat. Listen spa to see if the operation appears normal.
10 Turn on the meter and insert the meter probes direct instructions from the meter. Put to the test voltage.
11 Carefully insert a probe on one element of the terminals.
12 Place the second probe to the other heater terminal.
13 Read your meter to the element of tension.
14Remove the two probes, and note the voltage reading on the test.
15 Turn off power to the spa. If "0" volt heating received at the terminal where the problem is probably not the heating element. When you receive the correct voltage to the terminals of heating, it is now necessary to check amp draw on heating.
A check heating element
1 Turn off power to the spa. (This means turning off the power source circuit breaker or disconnect Spa).
2 Find the wires that connectSpa heater terminals.
3 Clamp a wire that goes to heating, with the amp meter.
4 Make sure that all cables are secure and safe for operation.
5 Re-supply voltage and turn on the hot tub heater thermostat to cause to come.
6 Verify amp meters, if your amps are pulled through the heating element.
7 Turn off the spa.
8 Note the reading from the instrument amplifier amplifier. If you get an amp reading from heating. The stove is in operation. Theirmust look elsewhere for problems.
* I f you get the correct voltage to the terminals of heating, has been read but no amplifier, if the spa was operating, the heating element is bad.
What if the heater test well during these tests, but not spa heat during normal operation. Remember, in step 5 to test the tension. You remove the filter. Check the status of the spa filter run for 24 hours without any filter, heated spa to see if normal. If a rule with a heated filter spaoff, replace the filter with the new.
Now be aware of hot tub / spa is different. If you have a digital system, write down any error codes. The new digital systems at the resort is now doing much of the troubleshooting for you, if you know what's being said about you, but let's leave that for another article though.
